Houses

After getting introduced to the signs and the planets, it is now time to turn our attention to the various houses. The houses in a horoscope signify the various areas of life. Each house has a natural ruling sign and planet. The planet is the one which rules the sign (i.e the ruling sign). Its not as confusing as it seems. The planets are distributed in the various houses. The area of life signified by one particular house is influenced by the planet(s) placed in it. Lets see the significance of the twelve houses one by one.

First House - Ruler: Aries
The first house is ruled by the sign known as ascendant. It is the sign on the eastern horizon when the person is born in his natal chart. The ascendant has much to say about the nature of the person. The first house signifies the personality. Planets in this house significantly affect the personality.

Second House - Ruler: Taurus
The second house signifies self-worth and financial matters. Any planet in this house influences the nature of the person regarding financial matters. For example, Mars in this house would cause the person to strive for earning money. That would be the driving force of his/her life if all other planetary positions are favourable. It would also tend to make the person a spendthrift. Saturn in the same house would cause the person to be more miserly and cautious abou6t money matters. The position indicates certain strife towards the objective of earning money.

Third House - Ruler: Gemini
The third house signifies early childhood. It also is related with communication skills and mental aptitude.

Fourth House - Ruler: Cancer
The fourth house signifies relations with parents, familial ties and home atmosphere Any planet in this house influences the above mentioned areas.

Fifth House - Ruler: Leo
The fifth house denotes romance, partners and adolescent life.

Sixth House - Ruler: Virgo
This house denoted health matters as well as work environment and relations with employer or employees (in general service).

Seventh House - Ruler: Libra
This house signifies the marriage partner as well as the nature of partners and partnerships in life.

Eighth House - Ruler: Scorpio
This house signifies the attitudes towards life, death, regeneration, sex as also secret matters.

Ninth House - Ruler: Sagittarius
The ninth house denotes higher education, journeys and religious nature of the person.

Tenth House - Ruler: Capricorn
The tenth house signifies the social status and fame of a person.

Eleventh House - Ruler: Aquarius
The eleventh house signifies friends, hopes and wishes. It also influences the behaviour of the person in a group.

Twelth House - Ruler: Pisces
